The two header numbers

The gap between them is what’s currently working: collateral backing your open positions.
Reading the movement. Available drops when you open a trade, and Equity doesn’t. That’s correct — funds moved from idle to deployed, but you still hold the same total. If Equity drops, you’ve lost value (or paid fees/funding); if only Available drops, you’ve just put money to work.

Reading a position

Watch the liquidation price. It’s the number that decides whether a bad hour costs you some P&L or the whole position. It moves as you add or remove collateral, and funding payments erode your buffer over time.
Unrealized P&L is a mark-to-market estimate, not a promise. What you actually realise depends on the price you close at and the fees you pay to get out.

Positions across venues

Because ryft reads every venue at once, your portfolio is genuinely unified rather than a stack of per-exchange tabs. Positions in the same market on different venues are shown together and net out. Only venues actually holding funds or positions appear — an exchange you’ve never traded on doesn’t clutter the view.

Unrealized P&L — don’t add it up twice

The portfolio shows total unrealized P&L across your positions. It’s informational — already reflected in your Equity. Adding it on top double-counts. Use Equity as the single source of truth, and treat unrealized P&L as the explanation for why it changed.

When numbers look off

  • Right after a fill. Venue balances update on their own schedule. Give it a few seconds and refresh.
  • Right after a deposit. Idle pool balance updates as soon as the Solana transfer confirms; venue-side numbers only change when funds are deployed by a trade.
  • A venue you can’t reach. If an exchange’s API is briefly unreachable, that venue is skipped rather than failing the whole view. It’s a read problem, not a balance problem.
  • A zero where you expected a number. If the app can’t reach the chain or a venue, it keeps showing the last good value rather than a fresh $0.00. If you genuinely see zeros across the board, check which wallet address is connected.

Funds in flight

While a reclaim is moving funds from an exchange back to your pool, it shows as in flight — with the venue, the amount, and the stage. This matters on bridged venues (Hyperliquid, Aster), where the trip takes minutes.
